Can a trusted mentor stop a Teen's suicidal thoughts?

NCT ID NCT07383831

Summary

This study aims to see if a brief form of talk therapy, delivered by trained youth mentors in community centers, is a practical and acceptable way to help prevent suicide in Hispanic adolescents. It will enroll 46 teens with mild depression symptoms and test if six weekly sessions with a mentor can reduce feelings of loneliness, being a burden, and depression compared to usual community center care. The goal is to create an accessible, early intervention program run by trusted adults within the community.
