Summary

This study is testing whether a yoga program designed to fit different cultures can help cancer patients who are getting a stem cell transplant. About 60 adults in India, Tanzania, and the United States will take part in up to 12 yoga sessions before and during their hospital stay. Researchers will measure changes in mood, anxiety, and quality of life through questionnaires and interviews.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
yoga therapy sessions
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, drug-free way to help cancer patients feel better emotionally and physically during a difficult transplant hospital stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage pilot study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Yoga may not significantly reduce symptoms for all patients.
