First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a liquid medicine called Xromi (hydroxycarbamide) can safely prevent painful complications of sickle cell disease in children aged 9 months to 2 years. About 180 children will take part, with some receiving Xromi and a comparison group of similar children who did not get the drug. Researchers will track side effects and how well the medicine works over 2 years.
