First human test of new muscle disease drug begins

Summary
This is the first study in humans to test the safety and side effects of a new drug called XmAb657. It will involve both healthy volunteers and people with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy, a group of rare autoimmune diseases that cause muscle inflammation and weakness. Participants will receive injections of the drug under the skin so researchers can see how the body handles it.
