Can writing heal Veterans' trauma and addiction?

NCT ID NCT05327504

Summary

This study is testing whether a brief writing therapy can help veterans who are dealing with both post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use problems. Veterans in standard addiction treatment will be randomly assigned to either write about a traumatic experience or a neutral topic over five sessions. The main goal is to see if this specific writing therapy reduces PTSD symptoms and also helps with addiction recovery compared to standard care alone.
