Special dressing tested to stop infections after emergency surgery

NCT ID NCT05684198

Summary

This study tested whether a special wound dressing (negative pressure wound therapy) could prevent infections better than standard wound closure after emergency abdominal surgery for peritonitis. It involved 50 patients who had this urgent surgery and followed them for a year. The goal was to see if the special dressing reduced infections, pain, and hospital stays while being cost-effective.
