Could a 'Poop Pill' ease diabetic stomach pain?

NCT ID NCT06340217

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether transferring gut bacteria from healthy donors (called washed microbiota transplantation) can help people with diabetic gastroparesis—a condition where the stomach empties too slowly, causing bloating, nausea, and fullness. Researchers will give 46 adults either the bacteria or a placebo and track symptom changes over time. The goal is to see if this approach safely reduces symptoms by at least half.
