New injection could curb opioid use after common dental surgery

NCT ID NCT04880707

Summary

This study is testing a simple dental injection, called the Twin Block, to see if it can effectively reduce jaw muscle pain after wisdom tooth removal. The goal is to provide a safe, non-opioid option for pain control to help address the national opioid crisis. Researchers will enroll 48 healthy adults who have significant jaw muscle pain the day after their procedure and compare the injection to a placebo, tracking pain levels and medication use for a week.
