Summary

This study looks at whether adding the Wim Hof breathing method to a short aerobic workout can improve heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen use in healthy young adults who smoke. Sixty smokers aged 18 to 25 will be split into two groups: one does only walking or jogging, the other does the same exercise plus the breathing technique before and after. The goal is to see if the breathing method makes an immediate difference in how the heart and lungs respond to exercise.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Wim Hof breathing method
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple breathing technique to boost exercise performance in smokers.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study (60 people) looking only at immediate effects. Results may not apply to older or less healthy people, and the breathing method may not provide lasting benefits.
