Can surgery turn back your Body's clock? study probes weight loss and aging cells
NCT ID NCT05903521
Summary
This study aimed to understand if weight-loss surgery can lengthen telomeres, which are protective caps on chromosomes that shorten with age. Researchers compared telomere length in 120 people with severe obesity to those who had surgery over a year prior. The goal was to see if this cellular change could be one reason why surgery might lower cancer risk.
