Could a weight loss pill be the key to taming painful gout flares?
NCT ID NCT07326839
Summary
This study is testing if adding a weight loss medication (orlistat) to standard gout treatment helps obese patients better control their uric acid levels. 120 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the weight loss drug plus a personalized diet and exercise plan, or a placebo plus standard advice, for 24 weeks. Researchers will measure how many patients reach a healthy uric acid target, lose weight, and have fewer painful gout attacks.
