Summary

Wrist osteoarthritis often follows an old injury, and surgery can be the last option when other treatments fail to ease pain. This trial compares two ways to rehabilitate after wrist surgery: a web-based program people follow at home, and standard rehabilitation with in-person clinic visits. Researchers will measure wrist function, pain, and quality of life in 90 adults to see whether the web-based approach works as well as the standard one.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Web-based rehabilitation program delivered through an online platform
What this could lead to
If web-based rehabilitation works as well as clinic visits, people recovering from wrist surgery could do their exercises from home with fewer trips to a clinic.
What could go wrong
The trial is small, with 90 participants, and only measures outcomes up to three months after cast removal. Web-based rehabilitation may not suit everyone, and results may not apply to other surgeries or longer recovery periods.

Phase

Not a phased trial

Phase numbers describe drug development. The registry uses this when they do not apply, as it does for trials of devices, procedures or behaviour changes, and for observational studies.

Participants

About 90 people
