Fitbit and coaching trial aims to tame belly fat and heart risks

Summary
This study is testing whether using a Fitbit, either alone or combined with a health coaching program, can help adults with central obesity move more and improve their heart health markers. Over 130 participants aged 40+ will be randomly assigned to use the device, use the device plus get coaching, or continue their usual lifestyle for one year. Researchers will measure changes in physical activity, sleep, weight, waist size, and blood markers to see which approach works best.
