First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests a new method called the Volume-Velocity Index (VVI) to see if it can accurately predict when patients on mechanical ventilators are ready to breathe on their own. Researchers will measure diaphragm movement and breathing patterns in 100 adults during standard weaning tests. The goal is to reduce failed extubations and time on ventilators.
