First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study is for people with early- or intermediate-risk low rectal cancer. It tests whether patients who respond well to chemotherapy and radiation can safely avoid surgery and instead be closely monitored (watch-and-wait). The goal is to preserve the rectum and improve quality of life without compromising cancer control. About 60 participants will be followed for one year to see how many can avoid major surgery.
