Simple warmth in surgery could shield elderly minds and boost cancer survival

Summary
This large study is testing whether carefully managing a patient's body temperature during major cancer surgery can prevent post-operative delirium (a serious state of confusion) and improve long-term survival. It will involve nearly 4,000 older patients (65+) undergoing lengthy cancer operations. Researchers will compare standard care to a protocol that actively keeps patients at a normal, warm temperature to see if it reduces complications and cancer recurrence.
