Scientists measure the hidden cost of every step for kids with CP

NCT ID NCT04303078

Summary

This study aimed to understand why walking requires so much more energy for children with cerebral palsy (CP) compared to their peers. Researchers measured oxygen use and body movements in 34 children (some with CP, some without) while they walked on a treadmill with and without a supportive harness. The goal was to gather the basic information needed to eventually design better treatments, devices, or therapies to reduce fatigue and improve quality of life.
