VR goggles let you 'Practice' eye surgery before the real thing

NCT ID NCT07620821

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether letting cataract surgery patients watch a virtual reality (VR) simulation of the procedure beforehand can reduce their anxiety during the real surgery. About 260 adults scheduled for cataract surgery will either use VR glasses to experience the sights and sounds of the operation or receive standard care. Researchers will measure changes in self-reported anxiety, heart rate, and blood pressure to see if the VR preview helps patients feel calmer.
