Virtual time travel: can VR relive memories to fight apathy in nursing homes?

NCT ID NCT07468305

Summary

This small pilot study is testing whether a new, non-drug therapy using virtual reality (VR) is practical and helpful for elderly people in nursing homes. The therapy uses personalized VR sessions to help participants relive meaningful memories from their past, aiming to reduce feelings of apathy—a lack of motivation and emotional engagement common in dementia. Researchers will check if the program is easy to run and see if it improves participants' mood, quality of life, and social interaction.
