Scientists use VR goggles to track Smokers' cravings

NCT ID NCT06582888

Summary

This study aims to see if a virtual reality test can reliably measure how much attention smokers pay to smoking-related cues, which could serve as a biomarker for addiction. Researchers will enroll 200 daily smokers from San Diego. Participants will take the VR test, then be randomly assigned to receive either a smoking cessation medication (varenicline) or a placebo for a short period, and take the test again to see if their attention changes.
