First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding a virtual reality (VR) experience to standard education could lower anxiety in 75 adults scheduled for a heart valve repair procedure (MitraClip or TriClip). Participants either got usual information or the same plus a VR tour explaining the procedure and hospital setting. Researchers measured anxiety changes right after education and one week before the procedure. The goal was to see if VR helps patients feel more at ease and better understand what to expect.
