Summary
This small study tested whether using immersive virtual reality could reduce how much pain people feel from brief heat sensations. Researchers compared pain ratings when participants experienced the heat with and without using a VR headset. The study involved 24 University of Washington psychology students who experienced safe, tolerable heat pulses on their skin.
