Virtual worlds ease real pain: VR tested for kidney stone procedure

NCT ID NCT06616324

Summary

This study is testing whether using a virtual reality (VR) headset during a common kidney stone treatment can help reduce patients' pain and anxiety. Seventy-two adults scheduled for the shock wave procedure will be randomly assigned to either use VR during treatment or receive standard care. Researchers will measure pain levels, anxiety, medication use, and patient satisfaction to see if the immersive distraction of VR provides meaningful relief.
