VR headsets in the ICU: can games and breathing exercises ease patient distress?

NCT ID NCT06876168

Summary

This study is testing whether using a virtual reality (VR) headset in the intensive care unit (ICU) can help patients relax, improve their mood, and keep their minds active. Patients recovering from serious conditions like respiratory failure or sepsis will try VR sessions with breathing exercises, games, and calming scenes for about 15-45 minutes a day over 5 days. The main goal is to see if this approach is practical and easy for patients to use, and if it might help reduce feelings of confusion, loneliness, and anxiety during their hospital stay.
