VR headsets could make dental X-Rays less Gag-Inducing

NCT ID NCT07236138

Summary

This study tested whether using a virtual reality (VR) headset for distraction could help control the gag reflex in adults during routine dental X-rays. Thirty patients with moderate to severe gagging had X-rays taken on both sides of their mouth—one side with standard care and the other while using VR. Researchers measured gagging severity, anxiety, and patient satisfaction to see if VR made the procedure more comfortable.
