Calming VR worlds tested to tame 'White Coat' blood pressure spikes
NCT ID NCT06960057
Summary
This study tested whether a short, calming virtual reality (VR) experience could help lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety for people at the doctor's office. 79 adults who were already scheduled for a special 24-hour blood pressure test tried a 5-minute VR nature scene during their clinic visit. Researchers measured their blood pressure and asked about their anxiety before and after the VR session to see if it made a difference.
