New breathing technique could improve sleep for muscle disease patients

NCT ID NCT06339580

First seen Jun 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way of using a breathing machine (ventilator) for people with slowly worsening muscle diseases like muscular dystrophy. The goal is to see if adjusting the machine to deliver a set amount of air each breath can improve overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide levels and sleep comfort. About 30 adults who already use a breathing machine at night will try both their usual settings and the new volume-targeted settings to compare results.
