Singing or breathing? study tests which boosts lung power in women
NCT ID NCT07175844
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether vocal exercises or breathing exercises work better to improve lung function and trunk (core) stability in healthy women aged 18 to 65. Fifty women did six weeks of either vocal or breathing exercises, twice a week for 30 minutes. Researchers measured their breathing strength, lung capacity, and core stability before and after the program to see which group improved more.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
vocal exercises and breathing exercises
What this could lead to
If one exercise type proves superior, it could point toward simple, at-home routines to improve breathing and core stability in healthy women.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial in healthy volunteers only, so results may not apply to people with lung conditions. The exercises are low-risk but may not show meaningful differences.
