NCT ID NCT04861571
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests whether a very low-calorie diet (800-960 calories per day) can reduce liver fat and scarring in 20 adults with obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Participants follow the diet for 8 weeks, and researchers measure liver changes using a special ultrasound. The goal is to offer a non-surgical option for those who cannot have weight-loss surgery.
