Can a vitamin pill fight COVID? major study tests common supplement
NCT ID NCT04536298
Summary
This large study tested whether taking a daily vitamin D supplement for four weeks could help people recently diagnosed with COVID-19. Researchers wanted to see if it reduced their need for medical care and also if it prevented infection in other people living in the same household. Over 2,000 adults from the U.S. and Mongolia were randomly assigned to take either vitamin D or a placebo pill to compare the outcomes.
