First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking moderate (4,000 IU) or high (10,000 IU) doses of vitamin D daily could lower the risk of getting COVID-19 compared to a low dose (400 IU). About 1,475 adults from the Chicago area took part for 9 months. Researchers tracked who got a confirmed COVID-19 infection to see if higher doses offered more protection.
