Can a vitamin stop the pain? burn study probes simple pill

NCT ID NCT05619289

Summary

This small, completed study tested if a single large dose of vitamin D, given right after a serious burn, could prevent patients from developing long-lasting chronic pain. Researchers gave 40 adult burn patients either vitamin D or a placebo pill and tracked their pain, medication use, and immune system markers for six months. The main goals were to see if the treatment was safe and feasible, and to learn how vitamin D might change the body's immune response after a burn to reduce future pain.
