First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at how common vitamin D deficiency is in people with chronic heart failure and whether taking vitamin D supplements improves their health. 91 adults with heart failure were divided into groups based on their vitamin D levels. Those with severe deficiency were randomly assigned to receive vitamin D or no treatment. Researchers tracked hospitalizations and deaths over 26 months to see if supplements made a difference.
