New vitamin B12 formula tested for better absorption in seniors
NCT ID NCT07665671
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This Phase IV trial will compare how well a new vitamin B12 supplement (Ampli-B) is absorbed versus standard vitamin B12 in 12 healthy adults aged 50 and older. Each person will take a single dose of both supplements in random order, with a 10-day break in between. The study measures how quickly and how much B12 gets into the blood, aiming to see if the new formulation works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Vitamin B12 (as Ampli-B with permeability enhancer and standard cobalamin)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a specially formulated vitamin B12 supplement is absorbed faster or better than standard B12, potentially improving supplementation options.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial in only 12 healthy volunteers, so results may not apply to people with B12 deficiency or other health conditions. The study is not yet recruiting.
