Vitamin or mineral? small study tests two supplements for autism
NCT ID NCT07383363
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed study tested whether Vita 6 (a vitamin supplement) or zinc, each given alongside behavioral therapy, could reduce autism severity in children aged 3-12. Sixty-four newly diagnosed children who were not on any other treatment took part. The goal was to see if either supplement lowered their score on a standard autism rating scale after three months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Vita 6 (a vitamin supplement) and zinc sulfate
What this could lead to
If one treatment works better, it could offer a simple, safe option to help reduce autism severity in children when combined with behavioral therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 64 children, so results may not apply to everyone. It compares two existing supplements, not a new breakthrough, and symptom improvement may be modest.
