First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using a virtual reality headset for 10 minutes a day can reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue in people receiving palliative care. Forty adults with complex needs will be randomly assigned to either a fully immersive VR experience or a control version that keeps them aware of their real surroundings. Researchers will measure changes in pain scores and physiological signals like heart rate and brain activity over one week.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to ease pain and anxiety for people in palliative care, improving their comfort and quality of life.
