First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether wearing a virtual reality headset during a colposcopic biopsy (a procedure to examine the cervix) could lower pain and anxiety. Sixty women were randomly assigned to either use VR or receive standard care. Researchers measured pain with a simple 0-10 scale and anxiety with a questionnaire. The goal was to see if VR offers a drug-free way to make the procedure more comfortable.
