First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a virtual reality program can reduce discomfort for patients recovering in the intensive care unit after major heart, lung, or abdominal surgery. About 194 adults will be randomly assigned to either receive standard care or use the VR headset twice a day during their ICU stay. The goal is to see if VR can ease pain, anxiety, thirst, and other common sources of discomfort.
