3D-Printed guides could improve jaw surgery outcomes for oral cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05429099

First seen Jun 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using 3D computer models and printed surgical guides leads to better bone healing than standard free-hand surgery for people needing jaw reconstruction after oral cancer. About 420 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The main goal is to see if the 3D approach results in fewer bone non-unions one year after surgery, while also looking at accuracy, complications, quality of life, and costs.
