Summary
This study tested a virtual peer agent—a friendly AI that talks with teens—to see if it can help them handle stressful life events. Fifty-five teens aged 14 to 25 used the agent for 4 weeks, having conversations about emotions, coping strategies, and support. Researchers checked if symptoms improved and if teens found the tool helpful and safe.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Virtual peer agent counseling (conversational AI)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a low-cost, accessible way to support teens dealing with stress, without needing a human therapist.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with no control group, so results may not prove effectiveness. The virtual agent may not connect as well as a real person.
