Virtual exercise program aims to keep older veterans on their feet

NCT ID NCT07109466

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a live, home-based virtual balance class can reduce fall risk in older veterans. 110 veterans aged 65+ at risk for falls will either take the virtual balance class three times a week for three months followed by a standard wellness program, or just the wellness program alone. Researchers will measure changes in balance, hip strength, and mobility.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Multimodal balance intervention (virtual group exercise classes)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide an effective home-based program to prevent falls and improve mobility in older veterans.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small early-stage study (110 participants) and the virtual format may not work as well as in-person training. Results may not apply to all older adults.
