Scientists probe viral link to Radiation-Induced dental damage
NCT ID NCT02180932
Summary
This study aimed to understand why severe gum disease is so common after radiation treatment for head and neck cancers. Researchers followed 25 patients to see if radiation changes the levels of a common virus (Epstein-Barr virus) in the gums. The goal was to gather knowledge to help improve future dental care for cancer survivors.
