Can a video calm nerves before a C-Section better than a chat?
NCT ID NCT07647601
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test whether watching a short educational video or having a standard talk with a doctor is better at reducing anxiety and stress in women scheduled for a planned cesarean delivery. 140 women will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. Their anxiety levels and a stress hormone (cortisol) will be measured before and after the education to see which method works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
video-based education and verbal education
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that a simple video is better than a verbal talk at calming women before a planned C-section.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study. The results may not apply to all hospitals or women. Anxiety is complex and may not be fully reduced by a short video.
