Video lessons may sharpen Nurses' skill in collecting baby urine samples
NCT ID NCT07679867
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026
Summary
This study compares video-based training to standard instruction for nursing students learning how to collect urine samples from infants. About 69 third-year nursing students will be randomly assigned to either watch an educational video or receive usual teaching. Their knowledge and hands-on skill will be measured before and after training using a test and a checklist while practicing on a baby mannequin.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
video-based training
What this could lead to
If effective, video training could become a low-cost, scalable way to teach this nursing skill, potentially reducing contamination and improving diagnostic accuracy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study with 69 students using a mannequin, not real infants. Results may not translate to actual clinical settings or other institutions.
