NCT ID NCT07395817

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tests whether a brief cognitive behavioral therapy delivered via video conference can help adults with mood disorders who are at high risk for suicide. Forty participants will either receive the video therapy plus usual care, or usual care alone. The study will measure suicide attempts and suicidal thoughts over several months to see if the therapy is feasible and helpful.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

videoconference-based brief cognitive behavioral therapy (V-BCBT)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a practical, remote therapy option to help people with mood disorders manage suicidal thoughts and reduce suicide attempts.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy is still experimental and may not be more effective than standard care.
