Seeing themselves on video helps schizophrenia patients gain crucial Self-Awareness

NCT ID NCT02664129

Summary

This study tested whether watching a video of themselves recorded during a difficult period could help people with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder better recognize and understand their illness. Sixty patients were randomly assigned to either watch their own video after their symptoms stabilized or receive usual care without the video. Researchers measured if this self-observation improved patients' awareness of their condition, their willingness to stick with treatment, and their overall daily functioning.
