Vibrating watch could keep hospital patients moving

NCT ID NCT07492745

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a vibrating reminder watch can encourage hospital patients to be more active. Many older patients lose strength and independence during a hospital stay due to inactivity. The watch vibrates several times a day to remind patients to walk or do simple exercises. The trial will include 204 frail patients aged 50 and older.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
vibrating reminder watch
What this could lead to
If it works, this simple vibrating watch could help older hospital patients stay active and avoid losing strength and independence during their stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial. The watch may not motivate patients enough to make a real difference, and results may not apply to all hospital settings.
