Phone calls aim to ease Veterans' pain and reduce substance risks
NCT ID NCT04062214
Summary
This study tested whether a phone counseling program could help veterans with chronic pain and risky substance use. Over 1100 post-9/11 veterans applying for service-related compensation were randomly assigned to receive either the counseling calls or usual care. The counseling aimed to connect veterans with pain treatment services and address substance use through screening and brief advice.
