Doctors probe hidden pressures inside patients on breathing machines

NCT ID NCT05859672

Summary

This study aimed to better understand how different settings on a surgical breathing machine affect pressure inside a patient's chest. Researchers observed 150 adult patients during elective surgery to see how changing air volume and pressure impacted internal chest pressure and fluid management signals. The goal was to gather knowledge to help doctors fine-tune ventilator use for safer surgery.
