New breathing aid tested to keep critically ill obese patients off ventilators
NCT ID NCT04014920
Summary
This study aimed to prevent breathing failure in obese patients after they had a breathing tube removed in the intensive care unit (ICU). It compared two types of non-invasive breathing support to standard oxygen therapy to see which was better at keeping patients from needing the breathing tube put back in. The goal was to find the safest and most effective way to support these high-risk patients during recovery.
